GZIP support
Validate strings on compressed (GZIPped) pages.
7 votesForgot to update this one but updown does accept "deflate, gzip, br, zstd" as of now (2023).

Add "Pause Monitoring" to API.
Add a method on the API to pause monitoring. This would be useful when site is entering Maintenance Mode etc..
1 voteThis is already possible by setting the “enabled” field to false using the check edit endpoint (PUT /checks/xxxx)

Add button to fire example webhook to added webhook URL
Pretty simple, when you add a webhook there should be a "test" button which fires an example event to the webhook URL so the user can test it to ensure it works.
17 votesThis feature has just been added. There's now a "Send a test webhook" link in your webhook settings (if you have at least 1 endpoint configured) and in the Wehbook documentation. It also lets you choose the type of sample event to send. Direct link to the feature: https://updown.io/recipients/test

Change Slack webhook integration to Slack webhook URL (so other services which can emulate Slack's parsing to use this feature as well)
Instead of making the Slack webhook integration via the API, just allow users to put in a Slack URL. That way any other service which can emulate the Slack webhook schema can use the webhook feature.
As an example Discord has webhooks and if you add "/slack" to the end of a Discord webhook URL then it will parse the data as Slack does.
Currently I cannot use Updown with Discord. I also suspect that many other programs have an option to parse data like Slack so you could knock out a few webhook integrations in one simple step.
7 votesI forgot to mark this task as complete but this feature is actually in production since May 2019.

Alert if SSL certificate is revoked
At the moment a revoked certificate will show an error on browsers, but will show as "up" by updown.io
I was affected by the following, and didn't receive any notification when the site was inaccessible
https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2018/03/23000-https-certificates-axed-after-ceo-e-mails-private-keys/41 votesThis has been deployed yesterday! updown.io now detects revoked certificates, as long as they support OCSP. In case of error with the OCSP test, your certificate will stay valid but a warning will be visible in the certificate tooltip.

Add optional password access to public status page
It would be great to have the option to add secure the public status page with a password. Could be as simple as a htpasswd.
7 votesThis is now possible thanks to the new Protected visibility status page: https://headwayapp.co/updown-release-notes/protected-status-pages-259778

Allow API key revocation
The super-powered API key is supposed to stay secret, but it can sometimes go public because of mistakes.
It would be nice to be able to generate a new API key, which will revoke the old one.12 votesLooks like I forgot to update this one, it's already possible to revoke both API keys for a while.

Add phone number to SMS to exclude from Do not Disturb mode
Add phone number to SMS to exclude from Do not Disturb mode. During the night my iPhone is within "DND" mode and the updown.io service does not send a phone number. I am not able to exclude the messages from the DND mode because I need to create a contact for this which is not possible because there is no phone number
10 votesWe moved away from the “updown.io“ alphanumeric sender ID to a regular number whenever possible. Depending on your country you may see a different sender ID though, you can see the status here:

Don't show API key on settings without consent
Don't show my API key on the settings page without me pressing a button.

Alert after certain time of downtime
Implement a function to only send out alert IF website has been down more than ie 5/10 minutes would be AWESOME.
1 voteThis is already the case, thanks to the double check we only send alerts if the downtime is longer than your check frequency. So if you set check frequency to 5min, you’ll only receive alerts for downtimes longer than 5min.

Send a webhook-event for Apdex alerts
It is already possible to "Be alerted (by email) when your website's Apdex drops more than 0.3 in 1 hour". It would be great if this event could also send a webhook-request. This would allow us to be automatically notified in our custom monitoring-system when the Apdex suddenly drops for a website.
3 votesThe performance drop webhook has just been added:

Clarify amount of time left with current credits
Right now, the credit display reads something like this: "99,999 credits — 23m 4d". When I first started, with 100000 credits, this was confusing to be, because I assumed that the "23m" part meant 23 minutes. After a bit, I clicked on it, and found that it was really 23 months. This should be clarified to something like "99,999 credits — 23 months, 4 days."
1 voteThis has already been done, I forgot to update the suggestion :)

Show output of requests on status change
I run a distributed app that resolves to several different servers depending on where you request from in the world.
Currently when a server fails updown.io does pickup the outage (great!) but its hard to pin it down to which server it is thats failing. It would be good if updown.io could return some/all of the following:
1) which servers it is actually resolving to
2) out put of the request it did such asheaders that it got
what it resolved the website to
headers that it sentThe output of the command that Updown.io gives on its up/down…
3 votesAs I said in my email, we actually already store this and send it to you in the downtime email. There are still some work to do on the display in the UI and integration to Slack alerts for example which will be added in the future.

Lower check frequency
Lower check frequency for sites that just have to be online, but nothing relies on them. (ex: 1h)

Option to set Slack alerts to just a one-liner
Simplified or more concise Slack messages.
6 votesHi all, there’s now an option for that which is through Zapier (we just added native Zapier integration): https://updown.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/1911991
Using this you can connect a Slack channel and receive simplified one-line text only alerts if you prefer.

Disable email alerts
An option to disable email alerts if Slack integration is enabled would be great, cuts down the number of notifications. Small thing but would be great :)
1 voteIt’s now possible to select recipients for each check so you can disable email alerts if you want.

TCP certificate expiry checks
Updown is great for HTTPS checks - loving the cert expiry warnings, and I can also check my mailserver with the TCP checks.
I would like to also check the cert validity on a non-HTTPS ports. (i.e. IMAPS or SMTPS. I'm not asking for any understanding of the protocol for non HTTP(S) ports, just connect and do cert checks.)
22 votesTCPS checks have been implemented: https://headwayapp.co/updown-release-notes/tcps-check-247887
I took the liberty to upgrade some of your checks to tcps already. Let me know if you have any problem or questions with the feature :)

Don't reload the page after saving an item
When saving an item, the whole page reloads. It would be cool if it could be done in the background so I could keep editing other checks.
12 votesThis has now been done.

Add Timezone to notifications
Currently, at least in the Slack notifications, the timestamp is sent, but there is no timezone. The slack channel I am using has members from multiple timezones. I have the TZ in updown set to UTC, so it would be useful if the notification also mentioned "UTC" with the timestamp.
