Other types of check: Ping, SSH, DNS, etc.
This would allow a more precise monitoring of other pieces of infrastructure.
14 votesICMP (ping) and TCP has been added: https://twitter.com/updownio/status/658328364772687873
You can even check for SSH using a TCP check on port 22 + string match “SSH” -
Make per-stack (IPv4/6) status more accessible
Currently, many of the downtimes I experience affect only IPv6, whereas IPv4 continues to work as usual. However, there are currently several places in updown.io where it doesn’t distinguish between such a partial outage and complete unavailability (IPv4/6 both down). In those cases, it simply marks the check as “down”. This is a real shame given that updown.io already has dual stack monitoring out of the box and is able to show separate statuses on the dashbord like in the attached screenshot (which is awesome!). It would be extremely useful to have this data exposed elsewhere as well, in particular:

14 votesLooks like I forgot to update this but it has been implemented last year: https://headwayapp.co/updown-release-notes/less-visibility-for-partial-connectivity-issues-(ipv6-only)-176227
Since then partial (IPv6-only) downtimes are easier to distinguish and they don’t impact global availability numbers.

Meta tag "noindex" on public status page
It seems that Google has indexed my public status page, in all available languages. This isn't really necessary; it would be useful if there was some way for me to turn on a "noindex" meta tag, preventing search engines from indexing it.
12 votesThe new Protected status page visiblity give a more secure access with "noindex" by default and a non-guessable access_key:

The Private status page visiblity can also help of course if no foreign access is required (for logged in user only).

Add 4 sec / 8 sec to the Apdex threshold dropdown
Some APIs are slower than others but it doesn't mean that they give a bad experience to the client.
An API which has a response time of 5sec by design, currently shows up with red bars on the monitors page which is bad to show on a customer facing monitor page.
12 votesThe 4s and 8s Apdex T have just been added: https://headwayapp.co/updown-release-notes/slower-4s-and-8s-apdex-thresold-260571
Please use them wisely :)

Account sharing (company)
A company could create one account and add coworkers to it. People would still authenticate using github or google auth. It may use google apps / github company to automatically create/suggest company accounts.
12 votesEmail/password login is now deployed! And you can add a password to your existing OAuth account in a few clicks, from the Sign in page.

Don't reload the page after saving an item
When saving an item, the whole page reloads. It would be cool if it could be done in the background so I could keep editing other checks.
12 votesThis has now been done.

Allow API key revocation
The super-powered API key is supposed to stay secret, but it can sometimes go public because of mistakes.
It would be nice to be able to generate a new API key, which will revoke the old one.12 votesLooks like I forgot to update this one, it's already possible to revoke both API keys for a while.

Add phone number to SMS to exclude from Do not Disturb mode
Add phone number to SMS to exclude from Do not Disturb mode. During the night my iPhone is within "DND" mode and the updown.io service does not send a phone number. I am not able to exclude the messages from the DND mode because I need to create a contact for this which is not possible because there is no phone number
10 votesWe moved away from the “updown.io“ alphanumeric sender ID to a regular number whenever possible. Depending on your country you may see a different sender ID though, you can see the status here:

Better public status page
Don't show 'STRING FOUND' in public status page.
10 votesThe status page now simply displays “UP” or “DOWN” for string match checks.

Shareable private status pages
When I'm logged in, I can view our status pages at updown.io/[token]
But we do monitoring for clients, and it would be great if we could share an URL to a private status page like updown.io/[token]?[random_passkey] which would allow people who have that URL to view the status page, even if they are not logged in.
The random passkey would be an automatically generated alphanumerical string. There would have to be an option to expire a passkey and have a new one generated.
10 votesThis is now possible with the new Protected status page visiblity: https://headwayapp.co/updown-release-notes/protected-status-pages-259778

Order by status and disabled checks
I like ordering checks by status having the "down" first.
It would be nice, in this view, to have the disabled checks at the bottom of the list.10 votesI forgot to update this ticket but this is already the case :)

Include small response body in notifications directly
I typically implement a health check/status endpoint in my services, so it will return both a JSON response, and a valid HTTP status code (eg. 200 on success, 500 on error, for example).
Thing is, when I use this in combination with updown.io, I only get notifications that specify the reason based on the error code, eg. "Internal Server Error".
What I'd really want here is to have at least the Slack notifications include the entire response, or even just part of the response.
I'd even be fine if it only worked like this when you use the "contains" functionality,…
9 votesThis has just been deployed. You’ll now find in your down alert email an extract of the response alongside the string you configured for search in updown (that was already present before). There will also be a more visible link to the details page (to check the complete response received).

More frequent status checks
Say every 10 seconds. Perhaps with a restricted set of monitoring locations if that is what it takes to achieve this.
9 votes15 sec interval check support has been added (twice as fast as before)

More points of presence
It would be good to have more PoPs, especially in regions not yet covered like Asia.
9 votesWe just added Singapore & San Francisco. Check out our current PoPs here: https://updown.io/about

Choose alert recipient with API
It would be nice to be able to choose which notification recipient (email, sms, ...) to activate/deactivate when creating a check through the API.
For now all recipients are activated by default.8 votesThe recipients API is now available (to list, create or remove recipients, and to update check recipients), read the announcement here:

More historical APDEX data
We would like a longer history of APDEX data so we can show one of our providers and keep them honest.
