  1. Better expired SSL certificate notifications

Notifications about expired certificates can be improved (made more noticable) in 2 ways:
    1. Display expired certificates as downtime (or use some other highlighting) in weekly reports (and other periodic reports).
    2. Send repeated notifications for expired certificates (as it is done for downtime).

  4. Show Total Time on dashboard

I like to see the Total Time from the last 24 hours (so REDIRECTIONS + NAME LOOKUP + CONNECTION + TLS HANDSHAKE + RESPONSE TIME) on the dashboard.

Would be very nice to not only see the Apdex, but also the Total Time for all websites at one overview page.

  5. Private URL monitoring

The ability to monitor private endpoints e.g. internal VPN connections would be a great feature for us. I imagine it would have to be a small agent/executable that reports to the API (?)

  6. Ability to toggle Apdex notifications on a per-check basis

I have two sites which I would like to have Apdex notifications enabled, and a third where the notifications are unneeded. It would be nice to be able to toggle them on/off individually rather than having a global enable/disable.

  7. Adding HeadWayApp ID or widget code to the status pages

I liked your usage of the HeadWayapp to show us what is new with updown.io and it gave me an idea.

I am mapping all 150 of my websites to the subdomain status.<website>.com in order to allow people to check the status of the websites when they need to. Now, once a person sees the status page and notices an outage, the first thing they are going to be curious about is what happened. I was thinking it would be rad if we could add the "account ID" from the HEadWayapp widget code to status pages. this will allow admins…

  9. Read-only REST API keys per check

I would like to be able to generate read-only API keys per check, so I would be able to use the API to directly show information within customers sites (WordPress Dashboard).

Thanks for the suggestion, this is something which have been asked a couple times in the past and is under review for the roadmap.

Quick question: if this is for website which have a public status page, how would you feel about a public (no api key) read-only API for them?

Or do you prefer one read-only API key per check?

  10. Turn the webapp into a PWA (Progressive Web Application)

I believe the effort to turn you application into an webapp is pretty low (just include the manifest.json into the project root), and that would enable the users to install the website and use as an app.
It would also open some doors for future development:
    - Send push notifications from web
    - Offline access (yeah, this is kinda weird for you product)
    - Improved caching
    - Auto-updates straight from web (this is in comparison to native apps)

  12. [Status Page] Custom public website names for status page (different from dashbord)

I love the new multi-site status page but I can't share it with the public because our internal designations for our services means nothing to the public.

I would be awesome to be able to customize website names only for status pages and keep the private names for the dashboard and notifications.

    E.g: https://updown.io/p/07ws1
"lAPInou" would be displayed as "Core" or something like that, "Dsgn BI" as "3D Engine - BI", etc.

Bonus points if you implement a feature so we can add a description to each website :)

  13. Alias for alert email addresses

When using a service such as StatusPage for client updates, it provides a long unique email address for each type of alert we need to monitor. Without an alias it’s difficult to see if we are selecting the correct alert when assigning to each monitoring process.

More specifically, we display the status page on a widescreen TV, and we have to zoom out to fit the height of the status page, leaving a lot of unused space on the sides.

  16. Add alert groups

It would be helpful to create "alert groups" that consist of one or more SMS numbers, Slack channels, etc.

For example, I could create an alert group named "Project X" that consists of two SMS numbers and a Slack channel, and then I could assign that group to any alarms that are related to "Project X". In the future, when the members of "Project X" change I can just make changes to the alert group itself, rather than having to go to each alarm and add/remove recipients.

    Thanks!

  20. Import CA for all checks, or import "valid" certificate by check

For some reason, we have certificats only valide by our internal CA Root (not validate by a CA Authority) for disable warn/fail but keep expiration feature we need one of those feature:

    • import cert by service
    • import ca root by account
    • an interface validation to valide the actual certificate.

One important thing to note here is that having an invalid certificate does NOT prevent the expiration notifications. This is independent so you can keep an "invalid" certificate forever (updown will not notify you again about this) and still benefit from expiration warnings. This way we already kind of "tolerate" this use-case of running a non-publicly trusted certificate.

About the suggested changes, I would like to avoid the custom cert/CA UI because that's a lot of added complexity for a very small use-case among my clients. It'll generate more support also as people will wonder what this do, try to upload other certificates, it'll be annoying for self-signed certificates, etc... The UI to manually "acknowledge" that one cert should be considered valid though sounds more doable for me, I'll keep this suggestion to track the demand and will probably add this someday.
