I am not techy but I have over 40 domains I am watching only for SSL. Thank you for this tool. Most SSL monitors suck. I want to make sure I'm doing things the right way and I watch YouTube all of the time for tech support. There are so many hidden gems on your website like this q/a page itself. I just don't want such a great tool to be so hidden. I have been looking for a tool like this for 3 months and I am just finding you guys now!! Some APIs are slower than others but it doesn't mean that they give a bad experience to the client.
An API which has a response time of 5sec by design, currently shows up with red bars on the monitors page which is bad to show on a customer facing monitor page.8 votes
Current Telegram support is for either a conversation, or a group.
I'd like it to also (or rather) sent to a channel it's a posting member/admin, as there it gets less cluttered as people could use the comment discussion group for the chatter/responses0 votes
For some services we have only a UDP port to check, just tcp is aviable at this moment.3 votes
Indeed that's an idea but unfortunately there's no notion of "connection" for UDP so it's not possible to know if a port is filtered or if a service is simply not responding because it waits for a specific message for example. There is just one obvious case when the port is "officially" closed and so a response is sent to tell you that. Which kind of service would you like to monitor? would it require to send a specific packet? would it need to check for a response? Is just knowing that no response is received (not knowing if it's filtered or open) enough for your use-case?

I love the new multi-site status page but I can't share it with the public because our internal designations for our services means nothing to the public.
I would be awesome to be able to customize website names only for status pages and keep the private names for the dashboard and notifications.
"lAPInou" would be displayed as "Core" or something like that, "Dsgn BI" as "3D Engine - BI", etc.
Bonus points if you implement a feature so we can add a description to each website :)2 votes
It would be nice to make the number of checks before a Still Down Alert /Reminder is sent out customizable.
Details regarding Still Down Alert :
The still down notifications are sent as reminders, they are exponentially spaced out and dependent on the check frequency. The first reminder is sent after 60 down checks (so if you have 1min interval it's after 1h, if you have 30s interval after 30min, etc..) and after that, the next reminder is always twice as long as the previous one, so for example: 30min, 1h, 2h, 4h, 8h, etc...1 vote
For some reason, we have certificats only valide by our internal CA Root (not validate by a CA Authority) for disable warn/fail but keep expiration feature we need one of those feature:
- import cert by service
- import ca root by account
- an interface validation to valide the actual certificate.
One important thing to note here is that having an invalid certificate does NOT prevent the expiration notifications. This is independent so you can keep an "invalid" certificate forever (updown will not notify you again about this) and still benefit from expiration warnings. This way we already kind of "tolerate" this use-case of running a non-publicly trusted certificate.
About the suggested changes, I would like to avoid the custom cert/CA UI because that's a lot of added complexity for a very small use-case among my clients. It'll generate more support also as people will wonder what this do, try to upload other certificates, it'll be annoying for self-signed certificates, etc... The UI to manually "acknowledge" that one cert should be considered valid though sounds more doable for me, I'll keep this suggestion to track the demand and will probably add this someday.
The ability to monitor private endpoints e.g. internal VPN connections would be a great feature for us. I imagine it would have to be a small agent/executable that reports to the API (?)7 votes
Stripe offers an integration with some EU Bank Redirect solutions: https://stripe.com/docs/payments/bank-redirects
These do no support off-session charges though, which means no auto-renew, each payment has to be made manually. I create this suggestion to poll the interest in these. If you would like to be able to use one of these, please vote and let me know which one.2 votes

Quick question: if this is for website which have a public status page, how would you feel about a public (no api key) read-only API for them?

Provide integration with status.io, so your status page is updated automatically when updown detects an issue.
As a data point, status.io is another well known "status page" provider. They're actively developed (unlike Atlassian StatusPage these days), and used by a lot of places.1 vote
For reasons we have 3 opsgenie webhooks set up. While I can work out which one is which from the api key its not the greatest experience.
It would be good to be able to set a more human readable alias so that I can easily see which each of the webhooks does when configuring new checks or bulk updating.2 votes
Good suggestion, that is definitely a pain point. But I have a little hack for this (which I personally use), not very pretty but efficient: Add an anchor at the end of the URL to indicate an alias of your choosing. This anchor will not be sent to your server (it’s a client-side HTTP feature) but it’ll show in your recipient list and bulk edit screen so it makes it easier to distinguish URLs, example:
